$16.00 with skates, $14.00 own skates
Public ice skating sessions
Open sessions every day on the Holt Blvd ice, with Disco night on Friday and Saturday evenings. Call 909-986-0793 or text 909-935-9023 to confirm the hours.
The first ten minutes on rental skates
Admission with skates is $16.00, and the rental pair is part of that price. Before you step onto the ice, sit down and lace the boot snug through the instep and across the ankle, then stand up and bend your knees. If your heel lifts or your ankle folds inward, the laces are too loose. Tighten them on the bench, because fixing them out on the ice means a hard grab for the boards.
Start with one hand on the boards and take short, flat steps, closer to a penguin shuffle than a stride. Keep your knees soft and your eyes up instead of on your feet. Most first falls come from stiff legs and reaching ahead. If you go down, roll onto your hands and knees, set one skate flat on the ice, then the other, and push yourself up.
Bring your own skates and admission drops to $14.00. If your pair has been in a closet for a few seasons, check the blades and the fit before you drive over, and call 909-986-0793 if you have a question about the session you are planning to skate.

Holt Blvd, Disco night
Afternoons or Disco night?
Public sessions run every day of the week. Monday through Friday they start at 1:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday start at 1:30 PM. Tuesday and Thursday add a 7:10 to 8:30 PM session. Disco night belongs to Friday and Saturday evenings, 8:00 to 10:00 PM, with colored lights across the barrel-vault roof of the old Ice Bowl.
One reviewer, writing about a public session, said the rink isn’t too crowded and that it’s easy for beginners to get some practice without advanced skaters zipping around them. If you are new, weigh that when you pick your hour, and ask when you call which session tends to be the quietest this week.
Friday and Saturday evening hours are on the board below this section. Disco night follows the same call-ahead rule as every other hour on the ice, so confirm the time before you go.
What to wear, and when to call first
Session times change with the season, so call 909-986-0793 or text 909-935-9023 before you drive over. That is the rink’s own instruction, and it is the fastest way to know that today’s hours match the board.
Dress for a cold building. Wear layers you can peel off once you warm up, gloves for the moment you put a hand down on the ice, and thick socks that sit flat at the toe. Thin socks bunch inside a rental boot and rub at the ankle, and a bunched toe will make you want to quit long before your legs are tired.
Plan on a few laps with a friend to get your balance, then try gliding with both feet side by side. If you want to keep going past the first afternoon, the rink also teaches weekly classes with skate rental included.
“Had a great time during their public skating with the boys.” Daniel Sarmiento, Google review.
