4.1 out of 5 on Google from 340 reviews. Families come back for the coaches and for a rink small enough that a first-timer is not lost in a crowd.

“My daughter has been going here for 2 years and we love it!! We love the coaches and the environment!! Would definitely recommend for a fun day or if you’re interested in taking lessons.”

1957

The original ICE BOWL

A Place Where Dreams Can Come True, at the base of Mt. Baldy.

Built by the Vanderberg family in 1957

The Ontario Ice Skating Center is the second oldest ice facility in Southern California. The original Ice Bowl set the precedent for a new kind of entertainment in the Inland Empire, and it has been open to the public on the same corner of Holt Blvd ever since.

“Milo invented equipment, which would revolutionize the ice skating industry forever. He introduced ice re-surfacing machine, a skate sharpener, electric broom, as well as other innovations.”
The rink’s own history of Milo Vanderberg

1983, a skater’s rink

In 1983 the rink was purchased by Donald Bartelson, a longtime friend of the family and a skating professional. The ice kept its public sessions, its classes and its hockey.

Off this ice

The Ontario Hot Blades, the rink’s recreational figure skating team, have competed as champions in the USA and in Asia, and Ontario’s youth hockey has its own long legacy.

Is it easy for a beginner to get some practice here?

One skater’s answer on Google: the rink isn’t too crowded, and it’s easy for beginners to get some practice without advanced skaters zipping around them. Everything on this ice, from a first wobble to a hockey scrimmage:
